Summary

(1) Support objective of Larocque\Bahr was met where wife had the ability to support herself at her pre-divorce standard of living. Voluntary abandonment of employment which produced income commensurate with her earning capacity was significant factor in determining maintenance. She could not insist that her husband support her while she made a career choice to substantially reduce her income. (2) Fairness objective was met where wife did not contribute to husband’s completion of his education and did not contribute to his earning power.
